Following on from the being named as one of the first ever winners of a King’s Award for Enterprise, Senior Architectural Systems has attended an official presentation ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Senior is the UK’s largest privately owned aluminium fenestration systems manufacturer and has been presented with a prestigious award for innovation in recognition of its patented PURe® aluminium window system which can achieve exceptional thermal performance and energy efficiency. Senior’s founder and inventor of the PURe® system Lennart Jonsson represented the company by attending the exclusive event, alongside the other winners of the 2023 King’s Award for Enterprise and King Charles III himself.
Also, in attendance at the reception dinner, which was held on Tuesday 27th June at Buckingham Palace, were the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Environment Secretary Therese Coffey, and Business and Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch.
Commenting, Lennart Jonsson, chairman of the board at Senior Architectural Systems said:
It was a real honour to visit the palace and meet our fellow award winners as we came together to celebrate the success of different businesses from across the country. Senior has been at the forefront of the UK aluminium fenestration industry for over 30 years and this was definitely one of the biggest highlights of our journey so far. We are incredibly proud of our unique PURe® aluminium system and it’s wonderful to see the range, and the talents of all of the people here at Senior that have helped to create it, recognised with such a prestigious award.”

Senior is one of only 148 organisations nationwide to have received a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise, with the winners announced on Friday 21st April. The King’s Award for Enterprise recognises and celebrates business excellence across the UK, focusing on the four categories of innovation, sustainable development, international trade, and the promotion of opportunity through social mobility.
Senior’s win in the innovation category reflects the enduring success of its patented PURe® window system which features a highly-efficient expanded polyurethane (PUR) thermal barrier to give exceptional thermal performance. The PURe® aluminium window can achieve U-values as low as 0.71W/m2K when calculated as a commercial CEN Standard window to comfortably meet the latest targets set out by Part L of the Building Regulations.
As well as helping to prevent heat loss to reduce energy consumption, the PURe® system also offers ‘cradle to cradle’ recyclability, with even the PUR thermal barrier able to be reused with no requirement for landfill. Over the last decade, Senior has continued to develop and extend its PURe® range to include a variety of window styles and both commercial and residential door options.
