More products, less carbon – Senior’s 2024 highlights

It’s been another busy year for us here at Senior Architectural Systems, but before we welcome in 2025, here is a quick look back at our 2024 highlights!

Creating a classic – the launch of our Ali VU heritage door

We are proud to work closely with main contractors and architects across a variety of sectors, including both new build and regeneration projects. That’s why, to better support customers working on properties where planning restrictions often demand a more heritage-style aesthetic, this year we launched our new Ali VU door.

The new door is available with a choice of two transom styles to offer greater design flexibility, alongside a selection of heritage-inspired handles and backing plates. Fully Part L compliant and the perfect match for both refurbishment and new build schemes, the new Ali VU door can achieve U-values as low as 1.0 W/m²K when calculated as a CEN standard door.

ReAL 2.0 – our new aluminium offering

At the same time as increasing our product range, this year we have also been busy identifying sustainable ways to reduce our carbon footprint.

In the summer, we shared details of ReAL 2.0 – a new type of aluminium that we can offer select customers who are looking to further limit the embodied carbon generated through the manufacture, transportation, and disposal of aluminium fenestration products. We can now manufacture our full range of products from aluminium extrusions comprising a minimum of 75 per cent recycled content from post-consumer scrap materials, which are sourced and processed in the UK using low carbon methods. Using fully recycled aluminium that has been obtained here in the UK reduces the need for extensive transportation to our manufacturing facility in South Yorkshire and gives the new ReAL 2.0 aluminium offering a lower carbon footprint of 2.0 kg CO₂/kg A. Where possible, we are also working with select clients to manage the removal of older aluminium fenestration products from retrofit schemes, which can then be recycled and reused.

Bringing home our King’s Award

Last but by no means least, we couldn’t look back on our year without giving a special mention to our official presentation ceremony, which saw us bring home our King’s Award for Enterprise. We were among the first winners of the newly named King’s Award scheme back in April 2023, and we were delighted to host a special prize-giving ceremony at our Denaby HQ in September of this year. We were joined at the event by a host of dignitaries, including the Lord-Lieutenant of South Yorkshire and the mayors of both Doncaster and Rotherham.

We are incredibly proud to have been named a winner in the Innovation category for our patented low U-value PURe® aluminium window and door system. Both our official presentation ceremony and the award itself – which is on display in our newly refurbished reception area – have helped make 2024 a year to remember!

Looking ahead to 2025

Over the coming year, we will be announcing new additions to our product range, including a new thermally broken aluminium commercial door option, as well as making further investments in our ongoing sustainability initiatives. This will put us in a strong position to support our customers working in the residential sector as they navigate the new challenges of the Future Homes Standard, which is also expected to be implemented later in 2025.

Plans are also underway for our annual Aluminium Day event on March 13th. Once again, our social media platforms will be dedicated to showcasing the many benefits of this marvellous material, and we welcome contributions from the aluminium industry and beyond. Keep a close eye on our website, LinkedIn, Facebook, or X page over the coming months to find out how you can get involved.

In the meantime, we would like to wish all our customers and supply-chain partners a very happy and successful new year – see you in 2025!
